Christian Mottet MD

Christian Mottet studied medicine at the University of Basle, Switzerland, followed by clinical training in internal medicine at the Sion-Hérens-Conthey Hospital in the Canton of Valais and then at the University Hospital in Basle, Switzerland.

He then supplemented his medical training by carrying out research in experimental mucosal immunology for three years. This research activity notably contributed to the characterisation of regulatory T-cells in vitro and in vivo in a murine model of Crohn’s Disease (laboratory of Dr. F. Powrie, Oxford University, UK). During this same period, Dr. Mottet also had the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience of the management of patients suffering from Crohn’s Disease who attended the specialist consultation headed by Prof. D. Jewell at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, UK.

In August 2003, Dr. Mottet joined the Gastroenterology & Hepatology Service at the University Hospital in Lausanne, Switzerland.

His research interests concern not only fundamental but also translational research i.e. its clinical application in the domain of inflammatory bowel disease.
